You can search usages of any object that extends UnityEngine. This tool helps you find usages of the selected asset(s) and/or Object(s) in your Unity project, i.e. This one does not offer you control on how far down the dependency tree you want to go. I’ve encountered multiple instances where this tool did not work as expected. since Unity will log a warning that Unity itself cant open the file. First is the Find References in Scene tool. Menu items in the Assets menu are also added to the Project views right-click. You want to everybody to work on the same project and minimize merge conflicts as much as possible.įound inside the right-click menu, I find Unity’s built-in dependency viewer tools to be lacking. This is extremely important when working with multiple people through version control. you are not logged in to your Unity ID, click the icon in the upper right to log in. This is an important tool when you are trying to decouple assets and update/delete old ones. The game engine Unity has an asset store with a wealth of assets. A tool like this should allow you to click on any asset in the Project or Hierarchy window and identify the assets it references as well as show all the assets that depend on it. See changes from version 1.0.0.0 through 4.7.0.0 and beyond. One tool that I wish Unity had by default is a reference viewer window. View the change log for Visual Studio Tools for Unity, Windows.
